Upcoming Changes to Provider Applications; Draft Applications Will Be Deleted

Important:

All draft applications will be deleted prior to the below change. Providers with applications in progress must submit them before May 4, 2025, to avoid losing data.

Effective May 4, 2025, telehealth-related questions will be added to individual and organization provider applications (excluding OPR and Medicare Lite types). These updates are a result of a new federal requirement for state Medicaid agencies to collect telehealth and website URL on provider enrollment applications. This will help improve provider directory accuracy and ensure transparency for Medicaid members. The following questions will be added to the Services page of the provider application:

  • “Do you offer telehealth services covered by Medicaid?”
    • If the provider answers Yes to this question, another question will be asked “What types of telehealth services do you offer?” and the provider may select all applicable responses from a list of options including Remote Patient Monitoring, Store and Forward, Telephone Conversations, and Virtual Portal Conversations.
  • “Are in-person services available at this location?”
  • “Do you have an internet website URL you would like to display in a provider directory?”
  • The question “Is sign language supported?” will also be updated to “Is American Sign Language supported?”

Responses will be shared with NC Medicaid’s managed care partners and the Enrollment Broker to support accurate provider directories. For more information about approved telehealth services covered by NC Medicaid, please see clinical coverage policy 1H, Telehealth, Virtual Communications and Remote Patient Monitoring on the NC Medicaid Program Specific Clinical Coverage Policies webpage. An NC Medicaid provider bulletin will be published on this topic as well.
