Requests to Verify Social Security Number (SSN)

Some providers received requests to send in their SSN card to validate the accuracy of the SSN on their provider record. Providers are questioning why they must verify their SSN when they have been active for years, have not changed their SSN, and it has not been an issue up to this point. The previous vendor, Intellicorp, did not verify SSNs, and the current vendor LexisNexis (LN) does. If LN provides information showing the SSN on the record is incorrect, NCTracks must verify the number. Many times NCTracks finds that the SSN is incorrect due to typos. Providers are not able to see the SSN on their record except for the last four digits due to security reasons, so it may be incorrect without the provider realizing it. If the information the provider sends confirms the application is incorrect, NCTracks will withdraw the application unless the provider has already withdrawn it.

Providers should send in their SSN information to NCTracks when requested to clear up enrollment related issues. Thank you for your patience as NCTracks validates the authenticity of provider records.
