NEW Toolkit for Partner Organizations | “Supporting North Carolina’s Vaccination Efforts: Toolkit for Partner Organizations” shares strategies for how organizations can support vaccination efforts in their local communities and regions, with a focus on reaching and engaging historically marginalized populations (HMP). HMPs include communities that have historically and systematically been denied access to services and resources as a result of systemic racism and other forms of oppression. A sample of our strategies include but are not limited to sharing updated and important information about the vaccine, becoming a vaccine ambassador, and hosting virtual town halls about COVID-19 vaccines. The toolkit focuses on strategies to help earn the trust of North Carolinians, such as meeting people where they are, partnering with vaccine providers to reach HMP and hosting vaccine events in locations that are trusted by and accessible to HMPs. The toolkit also includes a checklist with recommendations for organizations wanting to host or contribute to a vaccine event (see also the survey for organizations interested in hosting or contributing to a vaccine event). The toolkit, developed by NCDHHS, is available at: https://files.nc.gov/covid/documents/guidance/vaccinations/NCDHHS-Toolkit-for-Partner-Organizations-COVID-19-Vaccines.pdf

Our COVID response work is fluid and dynamic. We always welcome feedback on how we can do things better and more effectively. Please submit questions or recommendations about this Toolkit for Partner Organizations using this form.

NEW NC Rural Coalition Fighting COVID-19: Vaccine 101 Training | On March 3rd, DHHS and the Office of Rural Health will be presenting a Vaccine 101 training to equip our Rural community members with accurate and timely information about the COVID-19 vaccine. The quicker we can get reliable information to those who want a COVID-19 vaccine and those who are hesitant, the faster we can gain control over this pandemic and get back to the people and places we love. This training will help communicate the safety and effectiveness of approved COVID-19 vaccines and help people find their spot to take their shot. The session will allow time for Q&A and focus on addressing the unique challenges facing our rural communities.

  • When: March 3, 2021 9:00-10:00AM or 5:30-6:30PM
  • Speakers: Dorothea Brock, Caroline Collier, Donald Hughes, W.A.R.4Life (morning session), Shemecka McNeil, Slice325 (evening session)
  • Registration: NC Rural Coalition Fighting COVID-19 (foundationhli.org)
  • Description: These meetings strive to unite the many efforts working to eliminate COVID -19 in NC’s most vulnerable communities as allies. The Rural Center, Foundation for Health Leadership and Innovation, Hometown Strong, AHEC and Office of Rural Health will give important information out to communities and in turn will receive important feedback from our communities.
