Organizational Taxonomies 237600000X and 237700000X to be End Dated 5/31/2026

This announcement serves as a follow-up to Individual Enrollment Types Now Available for Certain Optical and Hearing Aid Taxonomies published July 11, 2024.

The taxonomies 237600000X (Audiologist – Hearing Aid Fitter) and 237700000X (Hearing Instrument Specialist) were made available for Organization enrollment; however, these taxonomies are intended for individual providers only.

Effective May 31, 2026, any active 237600000X and 237700000X taxonomy on an organization’s record will be end dated. Organizations or groups who are currently enrolled with one of these individual taxonomies must have another appropriate active organization taxonomy on their NCTracks enrollment record to remain active.

To reiterate, NC Medicaid enrolled organizations with no other active organization taxonomy risk termination of their provider record if no action is taken by May 31, 2026.

Organizations with only an active 237600000X or 237700000X taxonomy must submit an NCTracks Manage Change Request (MCR) to add another appropriate organization taxonomy to their enrollment record. Providers may refer to the Provider Permission Matrix (PPM) to determine enrollment requirements for specific taxonomies.
